Colombian Army receives two new S-70i helicopters

04 September 2013

The Colombian Army Aviation Assault Division received two more Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk multi-role helicopters on August 29, increasing the total Black Hawk fleet to 46 and the S-70i fleet to seven.

All of the S-70i helicopters are employed by the Special Operations Aviation Battalion, based at Fort Tolemaida. The unit also uses UH-60L Black Hawks.

The first batch of five S-70i platforms was delivered in February and the aircraft were quickly pressed into service against guerrilla groups.
