Indonesia inducts new maritime patrol craft

17 June 2013

Indonesia launched two 48 m offshore patrol vessels, KN Bintang Laut (Pennant number 4801) and KN Singha Laut (4802) in early June.

Both patrol boats, built by Batam-based shipyards, are expected to enter operational service in July, according to a press release by the country's Central Committee for Maritime Security (Badan Koordinasi Keamanan Laut - Bakorkamla).

Bintang Laut , which was built by PT Palindo Marine and launched on 8 June, is based on the company's KCR 40 series of fast missile boats. Singha Laut , built by PT Citra Shipyard and launched on 9 June, has similar specifications but a different superstructure arrangement.
